Arizona's Victor Mendez Approved by Senate

On a voice vote, the Senate on July 24 unanimously confirmed Victor Mendez to serve as Deputy Secretary for the US Department of Transportation. In this role Mr. Mendez serves as the Chief Operating Officer of DOT. Mr. Mendez has served as the Federal Highway Administrator for the past five years of the Obama Administration and prior to that as the Director of the Arizona DOT. Greg Nadeau, FHWA’s Deputy Administrator has been filling in for Mr. Mendez since his nomination. The Senate also approved unanimously Peter Rogoff to serve as DOT Undersecretary for policy. Mr. Rogoff has served as the Federal Transit Administrator for the past five years.  Both men are already in those jobs on an acting basis, following their nominations in May by President Obama.
